A diverse specialist school that caters for students with special educational needs, including Autism (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and behavioural difficulties, are looking for a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team in January 2023.
Your duties will include 1:1 and group sessions with pupils, in addition to whole class activities, providing you with meaningful time with each child to build a positive and trusting relationship. Behaviour management will be required when challenges occur in the classroom, as well as personal care though you will receive training on this.
Experience working with SEN children and a good level of understanding of SEN is essential for the role and being competent in working with challenging behaviour is beneficial. This relevant previous experience could include SEN 1:1, helping within an SEN nursery, in a sport setting or in a similar SEN classroom setting etc
